- California EDD / State Disability Insurance
- FMLA & medical leave
- Private short- & long-term disability
- Fitness for duty & return to work
- Independent psychiatric evaluations
For Attorneys, Claims Professionals, Employers & Insurers
Independent evaluations may address diagnosis, causation, impairment, apportionment, work restrictions, treatment considerations, prognosis, and return-to-work questions when these issues are within the agreed scope. Opinions remain neutral and are based on the interview, records, clinical findings, and applicable evaluation standards.
Assessment Measures for Work-Injury Applicants
For psychiatric work-injury applicants, standardized questionnaires and rating scales help characterize symptoms and functioning. Measures are selected for the evaluation and interpreted alongside the clinical interview, relevant records, and the demands of the applicant’s work.
Scores support the overall assessment; they do not by themselves establish work-related causation, disability, or eligibility for benefits.
What an Evaluation May Address
- Psychiatric symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment history
- Concentration, pace, attendance, interpersonal functioning, and other work demands
- Restrictions, limitations, anticipated duration, and prognosis
- Clinical considerations related to returning to work
We clarify who is requesting the evaluation, the questions to be addressed, who will receive the report, and the limits of confidentiality before proceeding. An independent evaluation does not establish ongoing psychiatric treatment.
Common Questions
Does an appointment guarantee disability certification?
No. Opinions and documentation depend on the assessment and available evidence. An appointment does not guarantee certification, leave approval, or payment of benefits.
What should I prepare?
Have your request, deadlines, relevant forms, job description, and a list of treating providers available. The practice will explain how to provide records through an appropriate channel.
